Nexon’s brand-new search and removal game ARC Raiders has recently burst into fire, while online players have repeatedly broken records and even surpassed Field 6. In a recent interview with Japanese media Game*Spark, the CEO of the company, Lee Zheng Xianxian, spoke about the development and distribution of the work and stated his position on the impact of the generation AI on the development of the game.

Similar to The Finals, the explosion that came on line in 2023, Embark Studios, a new ARC Raiders studio, was controversial because of its use of AI technology in its development (its Steam Shop page exemption statement is also indicated). Although Embark claimed that the video game was “totally unutilised by the generated AI”, it acknowledged that part of the role was transliterated with text. In an interview with the British media Eurogamer, Embark stated that he insisted on maintaining a reasonable team size through emerging technologies such as AI tools and machine learning.

When it comes to the impact of generating AI on the development of the game, and in particular the future of the Next Project, Lee said: “Ai undoubtedly enhances the dual efficiency of game production and long-line operations. From this point of view, I think the overall `average quality’ of the game industry is steadily rising.” He further explained: “First of all, it must be recognized that every game company is now using AI. But when all enterprises share similar technologies, the real proposition becomes — how can they survive competition? I believe that the key is to choose a strategy that enhances its competitiveness.” With regard to the specific content of the strategy, Li gave a clear answer to “human creativity”. In his view, as AI technology raised average output levels in the industry, the value of human resources would become more prominent and a key factor in determining the pattern of competition.

While it remains to be seen whether this concept can be effectively integrated into the Nexon project, the basic conclusion that “all developers are using AI” is that it may be difficult to be widely accepted in the light of the resistance of recent players.
